Pipes, place & physics

How distance, location and cooling technology shape the economics and feasibility of data centre heat recovery in Europe

Data centre heat reuse sounds simple. It isn’t. Projects can succeed or fail on metres of pipe, not megawatts of ambition. This webinar offers clarity on impacts from distance between possible heat reuse partners, heat loss impacts, and cost to show what’s viable, what’s marginal and what won’t work. It also looks at where data centres actually get built - and how cooling technology determines economically feasible outcomes. Operators from both data centres and heat networks clarify why some heat recovery projects work, and some don’t.

Speakers:

  • Teemu Mäki, Senior Manager, District Heating and Cooling Network, Fortum
  • DC speaker TBC
  • Jo-Ann Garbutt, Director of Sustainability & Government Engagement, Digital Realty, representing the European Data Centre Association
  • Moderated by Luca Neumann, Senior Policy Advisor, Euroheat & Power
