Thermal energy harvesting on district heating network

District heating distribution networks are considered to be critical infrastructures in our society. Yet, the monitoring of their status is insufficient, especially on the old ones. One of the challenges is the lack of sustainable power supply around the underground pipes. This innovation addresses these pain points by turning the heat into electricity, which electrifies the distribution networks and enables digitalization of the monitoring. The solution goes beyond powering small electronics, but also drives some autonomous actuators and touches upon more efficient energy utilization in general.
