With well-established district heating networks increasingly integrating renewable and waste heat sources and electrification, the Nordic countries offer a valuable example of how district heating can decarbonise the heat sector and accelerate the broader energy transition.

This webinar will start with an overview of the current state of the Nordic district heating sector and its role in decarbonising heating and in the broader energy transition. It will then look at the main trends, including the uptake of renewable and waste heat sources, the electrification of heating systems and system integration. Particular attention will be given to the critical success factors: the enabling conditions behind the Nordic heat transition and the lessons learnt that can be shared with other European countries.
