Think bigger, electrify better: heating and cooling networks vital for successful electrification says EU Commission

The European Commission’s Electrification Action Plan recognises the vital role of district heating and cooling infrastructures to reduce energy system costs and accelerate electrification in the building and industry sectors. It aims to supply 15% of the EU heat demand with district heating and cooling by 2030 and unveils two additional initiatives: an EU Waste Heat Initiative - to supply 11% of the EU heat demand from waste heat by 2050 - and a Cooling and Heating Action Plan.
