Leading Members of the European Parliament, including Thomas Pellerin-Carlin (S&D, FR), Sigrid Friis (Renew, DK), Martin Hojsík (Renew, SK), Niels Fuglsang (S&D, DK) and Benedetta Scuderi (Greens/EFA, IT) have joined the Bring Heat Home campaign to carry its message: the EU needs to decarbonise heating and cooling demands now!

Launched at the Euroheat & Power Summit, the campaign is a response to the sobering fact that heating and cooling represents more than half of the EU's energy demand and around 27% of its overall CO2 emissions, as well as a large proportion of Europe's expensive fossil imports. It calls for a fast-tracked deployment of sustainable district energy systems, heat pumps, and energy efficiency solutions in European homes , highlighting the gains on affordable energy prices, climate action, energy security and competitiveness. Following the creation of an Energy and Housing Commissioner portfolio , supporters and partners urge these solutions to be made accessible and affordable to the millions of households who will need to retrofit their homes and replace their heating systems in the coming years.

The campaign is also a platform enabling dialogue between the MEPs and prominent EU energy and civil society organisations including Euroheat & Power, the European Heat Pump Association, Efficient Buildings Europe, Energy Cities, the Coalition for Energy Savings and the Cool Heating Coalition . It will serve as a sounding board for policymakers and stakeholders and support the development of concrete proposals to reduce and decarbonise heating and cooling demands in this mandate.
