While Sven Werner's scientific record speaks for itself, Euroheat & Power points to something else as the true heart of this award: his enduring dedication to education and the International DHC+ Summer School.

Since the very first edition in 2013, Werner has returned every single year – except for one summer when the Summer School was held in Italy. That gap was closed this year, as Sven made the trip to join the Summer School in Brescia. Rather than simply presenting his findings, he has taught students and young professionals how to think through the complexities of district energy systems themselves.

Many professionals working in district heating and cooling today can trace their passion for the field back to a single conversation, lecture, or piece of advice from Sven at the Summer School.

With this Special Recognition Award, Euroheat & Power honours both Sven Werner's scientific legacy and his role as a mentor to the generation now leading the sector's transition forward.
