11th International Conference on Smart Energy Systems

SESAAU2025 - The 11th International Conference on Smart Energy Systems takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 16-17 September 2025.

SESAAU2025 is organised by Aalborg University and Energy Cluster Denmark. Over its decade-long existence, the conference has become a significant venue for academia, industry, consultancy, and utilities to engage and discuss how to transition the energy system. Originally developed as a spin-off from the 4DH Research Centre targeting 4th Generation District Heating, the conference maintains a strong focus on district heating systems but also focuses on the integration with other sectors – electricity, cooling, industry, and transport in line with the sector integration core of the smart energy system concept.

Keynote speakers are:

  • Lily Bermel, Research Advisor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research
  • Şiir KILKIŞ, IPCC WGIII Vice-Chair
  • Asbjørn Haugstrup, Chief External Relations Officer at Innargi
  • Philip Christiani, Partner at Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners
