RES-DHC consortium visits a steel mill Marienhütte with waste heat management in Graz

As part of the European project “RES-DHC”, a project meeting took place in the Austrian city of Graz. Project partners learned how the city is driving heat transition forward with renewables and waste heat and discussed the opportunities for the transformation of district heating and cooling networks across Europe.

The highlight of the meeting was an excellent study tour to a manufacturer of steel structures organised by Energie Graz and Stahl- und Walzwerk Marienhütte GmbH. This expert excursion aimed at presenting how due to the installation of two highly efficient large heat pumps, waste heat from the steel and rolling mill Marienhütte GmbH can be used to deliver environmentally friendly heat to the existing district heating network in Graz.
