Heat Network Skills Review
This BEIS study (2020) demonstrates the following results:
- The industry is soon to undergo a surge in demand for skills, as it seeks to support the UK reach its 2050 carbon targets.
- Skills are unlikely to keep pace with this growing demand, with immediate skills gaps in project management and key technical roles.
We, therefore, recommend the creation of an industry-led skills partnership to oversee the development of skills in the industry. With a remit to: introduce more bespoke standards and accreditation; revise and adapt vocational qualifications and degrees; facilitate the transfer of workers from elsewhere into the industry; reach out to a younger and more diverse talent pool; collect and track workforce data.
