In 2021 the Climate Change and Energy Transition Law has marked a milestone by recognizing the urban underground infrastructures as renewable energy sources. As a result, Madrid Subterra has reached one of its foundational goals as waste energies from underground infrastructures must be taken into account in the fight against climate change and urban heat islands effect.

In our VI Madrid Subterra International Congress – this year on site and online format – we want to talk about this milestone. We will show projects proving there is talent, knowledge and technology to face the energy transition in cities using their underground potential.

The event is aimed at everyone interested in fighting against climate change, and specially to engineering and architecture students, professionals in the fields of energy, energy efficiency, circular economy and sustainability, as well as administrations and organizations owners of large underground infrastructures.
