Heating and cooling account for roughly half of the energy consumed in the European Union.  The decarbonization of the heating sector is therefore vital to the EU's goal to be a climate-neutral continent by 2050.

According to a study carried out by the European Commission, district heating and cooling (DHC) is one of the main infrastructures allowing decarbonisation by integrating renewable and carbon-neutral energy sources and technologies, and participating in energy system integration.

Join the workshop and learn about:

  • The importance of public authorities in deploying DHC as effective infrastructure to decarbonise cities;
  • The importance of a supportive policy framework to tackle main challenges and opportunities to accelerate the deployment of heat networks and leveraging private funds;
  • The importance to address the need for investments from the private sector to support public authorities.
