Flexi-Sync has explored district heating and cooling flexibility, both in terms of the flexibility provided by heat customers and the district energy provider. The conference will provide key results from the live testing of an optimized use of flexibility, the business aspects of flexibility as well as system perspectives on the benefits of utilizing more flexibility from district energy systems - both for the economy and the environment.
Agenda
9:30 Welcome
10:00 Block 1: Implementing district heating flexibility
We have tested a complete chain optimization from the heating and cooling consumers to the district energy provider live - and proven that it works! This opens new possibilities for district energy providers to reap the benefits from flexibility.
Speakers: Johan Kensby and Filippa Sandgren (Utilifeed) and Fredrik Martinsson (Mölndal Energi)
11:00 Block 2: Optimizing the flexibility business
We have explored different pricing and business models that incentivise flexibility and can create a win-win for heating and cooling consumers and district energy providers.
Speakers: Ying Yang (RISE) and Carolin Monsberger (AIT)
12:00 Lunch break
13:00 Block 3: System perspectives of flexibility
With energy system modelling we have shown how important different types of thermal energy storages will be to attain decarbonized and cost-efficient district energy systems. Flexibility will also be key for climate resilience.
Speakers: Dmytro Romanchenko (IVL), Demet Suna (AIT) and Vahid Nik (Chalmers)
