For two years, Wien Energie has been optimizing various heating networks by working with Gradyent’s Digital Twin Platform. This month, Wien Energie and Gradyent are starting the heat pump optimization project to lower the temperature of the thermal network in Oberlaa. This will increase the efficiency of the recently installed heat pump, creating around 10% more heat with the same amount of energy.

District Heating featured in the OIES Energy Forum on decarbonising heat in the European buildings sector

Veolia Energia Polska, Veolia Energia Poznań and Innargi have entered into an agreement on exploring the potential for 100 MW of geothermal energy for district heating.

Excess/waste heat from cooling the AstaReal’s algae cultivation is now recovered and used for the Gustavsberg district heating, near Stockholm (Sweden), operated by Vattenfall.  

The new funding will be used to grow the (development) team so it can enrich the Zero Friction platform with even more interesting functionalities. The funds will also enable Zero Friction to expand into new geographies to boost the transition to more sustainable heating and cooling.

Heating grids still lose a quarter of their heat yearly. This problem is becoming even more urgent with the rising fuel prices and the strong need for CO2 reduction. Gradyent has developed software that helps heating companies to optimize their heat systems and to reduce CO2, so that they can continue to supply affordable and reliable heat. Gradyent has raised €10 million in a Series A funding round from existing investors Capricorn Partners, ENERGIIQ and Helen Ventures and new investor Eneco.
