7th International DHC+ Student Awards winners announced!

Launched in 2012, the DHC+ Student Awards highlight outstanding and original contributions to District Heating and Cooling related research, including economic and technological aspects of related energy sources, energy management, and the environmental consequences of energy utilisation.


DHC+ has conducted 7 competitions in 7 years, and has seen 73 applications and 21 winners! This year, 11 finalists from 8 countries were on the shortlist of the Evaluation Committee. A high-level jury composed of the DHC+ member representatives from industry and academia have decided on the following winners:

  • 1st place winner: Henrique Lagoeiro (London South Bank University, UK) – Paper on Heat from Underground Energy London
  • 2nd place winner: Andrea Menapace (Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, IT) – Paper on Stochastic characterisation of the district heating load pattern of residential buildings
  • 3rd place winner: Gašper Stegnar (University of Ljubljana, SI) – Paper on The framework for evaluation of technical and economic potential in heat pump-based new district heating systems


Winners are invited to present at the Awards Ceremony on 7 May 2019 at the Euroheat & Power Congress in Nantes (France) and publish their articles in the International EuroHeat&Power Magazine (issue III-IV 2019).
