R & D and PROJECTS

Euroheat & Power takes part in research, development and demonstration projects concerning district heating technology, markets and policy.

* Euroheat & Power is a partner in Summerheat project analysing meeting cooling needs in summer by applying heat from cogeneration. The waste heat from CHP-technologies and incineration plants in district heating networks can be used as a heat source for the operation of chillers. This offers various benefits: on the one hand, an increased use will improve the overall economics of the whole power park of the district heating system in general and of CHP-plants and incineration in particular. On the other hand the increased use of Summerheat is more energy efficient than standard cooling systems and will support the reduction of CO2-emissions in the EU.

Contact Nikolai Pushkarev for more information.
Project co-ordinator is Berliner Energieagentur GmbH and the participating countries include
Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Denmark, Poland, Belgium

* Euroheat & Power has been carrying out the project on heat and cooling markets co-financed by European Commission (1January 2005 -31 December 2006)

* Euroheat & Power was prevoisly involved in two projects co-financed by European Commission:

* CHP/DHC related sector projects can receive support from European Commission via two Programes:

International Energy Agency has with its member countries an Agreement on District Heating & Cooling including the integration of CHP. The Agreement consists of different co-funded projects. IEuroheat & Power has the status of observer in this IEA Implementing Agreement. More information on IEA IA on DHC including CHP website.
