Euroheat & Power's 2007-2008 edition of biennial
“District Heating and Cooling – country by country survey”

With more than 5000 District Heating and about 100 District Cooling systems in Europe our sector accounts for about 10% of the heat and 2% of the cooling demands.

The 2007-2008 survey reflects on the current situation, possibilities and trends of combined heat & power and district heating &cooling sector at national and European level and provides insight in the different national heat and cooling markets. Policies, impact of EU legislation on industry, barriers, prices and tariff structures, costs and taxation aspects, investment needs and available financial resources as well as statistical information and elements related to promotion and future prospects complete the picturein the countries surveyed.

New country reports have been added: Russia, Ukraine, Slovenia.

Copies include CD-R with statistics and can be ordered online from Euroheat & Power's publications section

“Euroheat & Power Certification Guidelines for Quality
Assessment of District Heating Pipes"

These guidelines represent the first step towards the European framework enabling an increased product quality level, sound competition, cost efficiency by avoiding multiple testing and inspections in production of preinsulated district heating pipes.

The focus of the Guidelines are the standardised products: the straight preinsulated pipes (EN 253) and fitting assemblies (EN 448) These guidelines were endorsed by the Board of Euroheat & Power and are currently under endorsemement process with our National Association Members who are also proposing members for the Certification Board.

For more information please on the Cerification Guidelines please click here. The list of Certification Bodies and Test Institutes is available here and the list of certificates obtained is here.

“Renewables in District Heating and Cooling”
Shining examples from the industries

The district heating infrastructure optimises use of renewable energy sources in satifying urban heat demands. It creates an opportunity to combine a large spectrum of renewable fuels and ‘free’ energy inputs, such as surplus heat from electricity production, waste incineration and industrial processes. District cooling is emerging as a complimentary energy efficient tool for providing comfortable and reliable indoor climate during summer.

This brochure illustrates the variety of renewable energy sources used in district heating infrastructures to warm and cool human living spaces.

For more information on use of renewables with district heating and cooling and on the Euroheat & Power's work in this are please contact Eloi Piel.
