Background:
Euroheat and Power unites the combined heat and power, district heating and cooling sector throughout Europe and beyond, with members from over thirty countries: including all existing national district heating associations in EU countries and the majority of new EU Member States; utilities operating DHC systems; industrial associations and companies; manufacturers; research institutes; consultants and other organisations involved in the CHP/DHC business.
Euroheat & Power works for energy supply in balance with ecology, promoting the advantages of CHP/DHC in general and the use of renewable energies to preserve primary energies in particular, and pursues international measures to enhance innovation and the further development of the sector.
The association represents the interests of the sector at the political level, in particular in relations to the European institutions and other international organisations. Euroheat & Power follows all European policies of relevance for CHP/DHC, such as energy, competition, environment and research policy. The Euroheat and Power offices are based in Brussels, Belgium.

Birger Lauersen is the President of Euroheat & Power (EHP) – the European Association Of District Heating and Cooling. He was elected as such in June 2010.
Ms Froning has been Director of Euroheat & Power since 2000. She has 20 years of experience in lobbying for energy industries in Brussels and has been active with related international projects/studies. She is a member of the German branch of the International Association of Energy Economics, the author of numerous articles and publications on European energy policies/markets and holds a license in technical and economical translations.

Birger Lauersen is the President of Euroheat & Power (EHP) – the European Association Of District Heating and Cooling. He was elected as such in June 2010.
Birger Lauersen has a masters of political science from Copenhagen University (1994). He has worked for Danish District Heating Association since 1994, initially as economic advisor dealing with energy taxation and regulation, heat purchase contracts and a host of other matters, and since1998 he is also responsible for international affairs. He has been on the board of the European district heating organisation Euroheat & Power, since 1998, and also chairman of its Energy Policy Group since 2002. He was elected vice president of Euroheat & Power in June 2008.
He lives in Kolding, Denmark and like 62 % of Danes, enjoys the benefits of district heating in his home.Ms Froning has been Director of Euroheat & Power since 2000.
